Research Affiliate selected to receive Fulbright Senior Researcher award
Berger Research Affiliate Jennifer Ward-Batts has been selected to receive a Fulbright Senior Researcher award. She will spend the 2008-09 academic year at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. She plans to conduct research on behavioral effects of education policy and of changes in law in Turkey that may have impacts on outcomes for women and children. These outcomes include women's labor force participation, educational attainment, decision-making power within families, and welfare both inside and outside of marriage. She will also examine how changes in both education policy and women's power within the family may have impacted the welfare of children.

Living Room Conversations on Work and Family
Join us for a Living Room Conversation on issues so many of us face as we navigate work and family. The Berger Institute on Work, Family, and Children at Claremont McKenna College is a leading source of research on significant issues impacting the intersection of work and family. The Institute is launching new research on two topics: (1) men and women’s decision to opt out of the labor market; and (2) elder care.
We hope you will join us for a panel discussion and some lively conversation on these topics. Your experiences and insights will help shape the direction of our research, which in turn will inform public policy and workplace practices that benefit both families and employers.
